The accepted papers will be published in a special supplement to the Australian Journal of Indigenous Education in early 2007 and will be available to view and download from this website.
Non-refereed papers that were included in the Conference Program will also be made available on the website at that time.

Travelling to the Conference

From the Brisbane Airport

Distance/approximate time to Marriott Resort Surfers Paradise from airport.................90km/70minutes

AirtrainConnect Service

This train service stops at both the international and domestic terminals. It operates twice hourly, between the hours of 5.35am & 8.02pm Monday to Friday, and 6.02am & 8.02pm on Saturday and Sunday. The train goes directly to the Gold Coast (Robina Station) where you can catch a taxi to your accommodation. The cost is $18 per adult one way (another option is the train ticket with limousine transfer which costs $35 one way). Tickets can be purchased at the stations - follow the signs in the airports.

Coachtrans Shuttle Buses

The shuttle will go directly from the airport to the hotel. It operates every 45 minutes between the hours of 6.15am and 11.00pm daily. The cost is $35 one way or $65 return. Tickets can be purchased at the Coachtrans counters at both the international and domestic terminals.

If you would like to return on the Coachtrans shuttle, please book at the hotel or call reservations on 07 3238 4700 at least 24 hours prior to your departure.

Taxi

Taxi ranks are located along various points at the Domestic Terminal and on Arrivals Level 2 at the International Terminal. The approximate cost to the Gold Coast is $100 - $150.

Car Hire

Within the airports are agents for Avis, Budget, Hertz, National and Thrifty. Car hire costs are highly variable, but range upward from approximately $80 per day. Brisbane Airport is connected directly by motorway to the Gold Coast.

Driving Directions

From the Brisbane Airport follow the signs for the Gold Coast on the Gateway Arterial Motorway. Take the South East Freeway (M1) exit to the Gold Coast. Exit at Southport via Smith St and follow the signs for Surfers Paradise. Turn right at the Gold Coast Highway intersection and after approximately 3 km turn right at Pandanus Avenue and into Ferny Avenue . The resort is approximately 150m on the left hand side.

Gold Coast Tourist Shuttle

The shuttle service meets every flight landing at the airport and will take you directly to your accommodation. The cost is $14 per adult one way. Tickets can be purchased at the Gold Coast Tourist Shuttle counters inside both the international and domestic terminals.

If you would like to return on the shuttle, please book at your accommodation or call reservations on 07 5574 5111 at least 24 hours prior to your departure.

Follow the signs in the airport to the taxi rank outside. The approximate cost to the Marriott Resort Surfers Paradise and surrounding accommodation is $30.

    David Fleay Wildlife Park is a conservation park dedicated to the memory of naturalist Dr David Fleay. It is located next to Tallebudgera Creek on West Burleigh Road, West Burleigh on Queensland’s Gold Coast.

    The Environmental Protection Agency manages this park to enable people to see some of our native animals and raise community awareness about the need to protect them, especially rare and threatened species.

    This wildlife sanctuary were the first to breed the native bilby in captivity. Well worth a visit to see wombats, crocodiles, cassowary and many other natives to Australia.



    The park opens from 9am to 5pm seven days a week, every day of the year except Christmas Day.
