Aileen Moreton-Robinson, Professor = of Indigenous Studies, QUT

Aileen = Moreton-Robinson is a Geonpul woman from Minjerribah (Stradbroke Island), Quandamooka First Nation (Moreton Bay) in Queensland, Australia<= /st1:place>. Previous to her appointment as Pro= fessor of Indigenous Studies at Queensland University of Technology she was an Aus= tralian Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow at the Australian Studies Centre, University of Queensland. Prior to this appointm= ent she taught Indigenous studies at Griffith University in Brisbane and Women’s Studies at Flinders University in Adelaide. She is author of Talkin’ Up to the White Woman: Indigenous Women and Feminism, University of Queensland Press= which was short-listed for the New South Wales Premier Literary Awards and the W.= E. H Stanner Award.

Profess= or Moreton-Robinson has advocated for Indigenous rights = at local, state, national and international levels and worked for a number of Indigenous organisations. She has published in = the area of native title, whiteness, race and feminism in anthologies and journals i= n Australia and abroad. Professor Moreton-Robinson was the founding President of the Austra= lian Critical Race and Whiteness Studies Association (www.acrawsa.org.au). As President s= he was instrumental in the establishment of a website and an online journal. She has been involved in convening= three national conferences on whiteness and race. She is regularly requested to provide reader’s reports on articles concerning race and whiteness th= at have been submitted to journals in Australia and abroad. As one = of Australia’s leading academics in the area of critical race and whiteness studies she ha= s received numerous requests to give keynote presentations.
